Positive crankcase ventilation, a universal chrome-plated steel crankcase ventilation system for use on all HD models.

Fits standard 3/8" oil lines.

The engine can exhale, but not inhale, thus maintaining vacuum in the crankcase at all rpm for improved performance.

Note: Designed primarily for bottom vent and custom head vent applications. in normal head vent applications due to space requirements.

Tech Tip: How active crankshaft vents work.

During the downward stroke of the pistons, air in the crankcase is compressed.

HD engines, lower or upper vent models, are unable to vent the required volume.

With large displacement engines this problem increases even more.

All crankshaft vents allow pressure to escape, but also partially allow it to return when the pistons rise. In an active crankshaft vent (crankcase vent) a valve closes, preventing gases from re-entering the crankcase, creating a stronger partial vacuum all'inside the crankcase.

This can increase power, depending on the engine.

Fewer problems will occur with blown or oozing gaskets, and piston compression rings will seal better.
